With the iconic Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks at its doorstep, fantastic wildlife and cowboy culture, Jackson Hole is a one of a kind destination not only in the US but the world. This place has so much character and natural beauty that once you visit, you will be drawn to it for the rest of your life.
THINGS TO DO
SKI/ SNOWBOARD IN JACKSON HOLE MOUNTAIN RESORT
Soft powder snow, beautiful mountains and forest put Jackson Hole Mountain on the list of the best ski resorts in the US. I highly recommend getting a season pass like Ikon or Mountain Collective to bring down costs since a day pass here comes up to almost $200 USD, a staggering price compared to ski resorts in the Alps.
GO ON A SLEIGH RIDE THROUGH THE ELK REFUGE
In winter, thousands of elk gather right by Jackson Hole and you can get close to them on a horse-drawn sleigh ride at the Elk Refuge. The bighorn sheep can also be spotted on the other side of the hill, you can get there by car since the sleighs take you to the elk side only. This one is definitely a unique experience that should be on everyone’s list of Jackson Hole adventures.
VISIT GRAND TETON AND YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARKS
Exploring these two national parks in winter is an adventure in itself. Endless white plains, snow capped mountains and unbelievable wildlife will take your breathe away. Occasional dude ranches with horses strolling through the snow add even more character to this area. Spotting a bison making his way through deep snow and then jumping onto the road right in front of our car was one of those once in a lifetime moments that I’ll always remember. We were also lucky to spot several moose, bighorn sheep, bald eagle and thousand of elk. This place is a proper safari destination.
WHERE TO STAY
COWBOY VILLAGE RESORT – I loved staying here on three of my ski trips to Jackson Hole. These log cabins are so cozy, it takes some will power to go outside. There’s also an indoor swimming pool and hot tub perfect for an evening session after a long day of skiing. Let’s not forget their hearty breakfast and a private ski bus that takes you to a ski resort and also brings you back to Cowboy Village every day.
FOOD
CULTIVATE CAFE
Adjacent to Jackson Hole Playhouse, this is the most atmospheric cafe to grab a latte in town. You will walk through saloon doors and once inside, you can sit on a saddle at the bar stand.
PERSEPHONE BAKERY
Famous with all bloggers who come to visit Jackson Hole, Persephone Bakery has a homey atmosphere, delicious pastries and hot drinks. It really is as good as the bloggers say.
HEALTHY BEING CAFE & JUICERY
If you’re craving something healthy, organic and nutritious, this place has you covered. I personally loved coming here for a good soup on a cold winter afternoon. They have a great selection of salads, juices and other healthy things.
MILLION DOLLAR COWBOY BAR
The iconic Million Dollar Cowboy bar cannot be missed while staying in Jackson Hole. Known for Western dancing and live entertainment, the bar has kept its doors open for everyone since 1930s.
HAND FIRE PIZZA
Hand Fire Pizza is a great place for a late night pizza session! Located in the historic Teton Theater, this place has an open kitchen where you get to watch every pizza getting made by hand using organic, locally sourced ingredients.
LIBERTY BURGER
This place serves a great variety of mouth-watering burgers. On two of my ski trips to Jackson Hole, I found myself at Liberty Burger devouring a great burger each time.
